iBSL Entry Level Award in British Sign Language

This qualification aims to introduce learners to simple and basic skills in BSL to enable them to communicate with Deaf people on everyday topics at Entry Level. Max of 30 hours.  No previous experience of BSL required.  Suitable for frontline staff who wants to learn British Sign Language to communicate with their Deaf clientele.

British Sign Language Level 1 coursesiBSL Level 1 BSL Studies

This qualification aims to enable learners to develop suitable and sufficient skills in BSL to communicate with Deaf people on everyday topics at Level 1.  50 hours in the classroom  plus at least 20 hours of personal study which include access to online resources  provided by absolute and Signworld.  No previous experience of BSL required. Suitable for anyone who wants to learn British Sign Language to communicate with Deaf people.  This is also the first step for a career working with Deaf people.  Read more about iBSL Level 1 BSL Studies.

 

iBSL Level 2 BSL Studies

This qualification aims to further learners' experiences and development in communication through BSL with Deaf people on everyday topics involving social life and at work, school or college at Level 2.  75 hours in the classroom plus at least 75 hours of personal study which include access to online resources  provided by absolute and Signworld.  Learners should have the iBSL Level 1 Award in BSL or equivalent.

iBSL Level 3 BSL Studies

This qualification aims to further learners' experiences and development in communication through BSL with Deaf people on everyday topics involving work and social contexts at Level 3.  Max of 100 classroom hours plus 50 hours of personal study.  Learners should have the iBSL Level 2 Award in BSL or equivalent.

Evidence collection

Opportunities for BSL learners wanting to collect further video evidence for their NVQ Level 3 BSL and NVQ Level 6 BSL portfolios.
